Plastic CNC turning produces parts by "turning" rod material, all while simultaneously feeding a cutting tool into the turning material. In CNC turning, the tools can be fed into the rotating work piece at a variety of angles, with several options for tool shapes available.

Shapes that can be made using CNC lathes include a variety of plain, taper, contour, fillet and radius profiles plus threaded surfaces. Plastic CNC turning can be combined with plastic CNC milling and other processes to make more diverse shapes.
